What is For the Caregivers?

For the Caregivers is a caregiver support community serving caregivers across West Tennessee. We exist to reduce isolation, prevent caregiver burnout, strengthen families, and connect caregivers to practical resources and community support.
For the Caregivers is a nonprofit fund of the Community Foundation of West Tennessee.
Who is the group for?

Our gatherings are open to caregivers of all kinds, including:
Parents caring for children with medical, behavioral, or special needs
Spouses caring for a loved one
Caring for other family member
Adults caring for aging parent or adult children
Long-term caregivers
New caregivers navigating a recent diagnosis or life change
Past caregivers who would like to listen, share, or encourage
No matter what your caregiving role looks like, you are welcome here.
When are the meetings?

We currently meet once a month, on the first Monday of the month from 6:00–8 PM. We encourage caregivers to RSVP or follow updates online.

What happens during a support group meeting?
Each gathering is designed to provide encouragement, connection, nourishment, and practical support.
Meetings may include:
A shared meal
Educational topics or guest speakers
Creative activities or crafts
Small Group Discussion
Large Group Discussion
Prayer requests, Community, encouragement and peer support
Every meeting is different, but our goal is always the same: helping caregivers feel seen, supported, and less alone.
Do I have to share or talk during the meeting?
No. There is never pressure to speak.
Some caregivers share openly, while others prefer to listen quietly at first. Both are completely okay.
Is the group confidential?
Yes. We work hard to create a safe, respectful, and nonjudgmental environment where caregivers can speak honestly and feel supported.
We encourage all attendees to keep everything confidential and respect the privacy of others.
Is there a cost to attend?
No. Our caregiver gatherings are free to attend thanks to donations, sponsors, community partners, and supporters.
Meals, activities, and resources are provided at no cost.
Is transportation available?
Transportation assistance is available to the meeting and back home through Southwest Transportation services. Please call Sara at 731-225-0480 to get connected with a ride.

Our caregiver gatherings are held in the Inn Building at Englewood Baptist Church in Jackson, Tennessee.
Do you provide childcare or caregiving services?
At this time, we do not provide childcare or caregiving services during meetings.
Do I need to RSVP?
RSVPs are encouraged so we can plan meals, seating, supplies, and accommodations appropriately.
However, we never want RSVP limitations to prevent someone from coming.

We also occasionally invite guest speakers and local organizations to share helpful information.
